Upcoming Choral Music Events at First Church

Attention Music Lovers! Here are three outstanding choral music events to be held at First Church in the near future:

1) On March 11th, at our morning worship services, we will be joined by the choirs and brass ensemble from the State University of Valley City, North Dakota, Dr. Leesa Levy, conductor. VCSU has been recognized by US News and World Report as the #1 Public Regional College in the Midwest for 2012. It has ranked as one of the top three public regional colleges in the Midwest for over 10 years. I am certain that our worship services will be greatly enriched by the musicians from VCSU.

2) On Good Friday, April 6, at 7:00 PM a select ensemble of 20 singers from the Kirkland Choral Society, Glenn Gregg, conductor, will present J.S. Bach’s masterful cantata “Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit” “God’s time is the very best” BWV 106. The performance will be with period instruments: recorders, violas da gamba, organ and continuo. The texts and theme of this cantata are particularly appropriate for the service on Good Friday. Don’t miss this deeply moving musical presentation.

3) On Saturday, May 12th at 3:00 PM, Dr. Glenn Gregg will lead the combined choirs of Lake Washington UMC, First UMC of Bellevue, and our own FUMC Seattle choir in a concert featuring Schubert’s Mass in G Major with string orchestra. The concert will also include some favorite anthems presented by each of the choirs. This is a great way for us to enjoy music and get to know some of our fellow United Methodists in the area. Mark your calendars for this event!
